April showers bring May flowers! Spring break is around the corner and I think we could all use a little break away from school. I’m confident we will all come back refreshed and ready to finish the last few months at MHR.
Please note that there will be no morning Connection parent meeting this month. It’s a quick month with the break. I will look at the calendar for May and evaluate if we will have a May meeting. I will keep you posted.
Please note that I’m available during the day to do individual counseling sessions with your child should the need arise. Maybe your child is struggling with other classmates socially, has worries that are intereferring with classwork, or they are just stressed out. Whatever the reason I would be glad to meet with them. Sometimes just talking to someone and knowing they have support at school can bring peace. If a student would like to meet with me they can tell there teacher, drop me a note in my office, or parent or student can send me an e-mail. I will not come into the class and pull the student in front of classmates, instead I find creative ways for them to leave class where others may not know.
HAPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY…..HAVE A GREAT SPRING BREAK!

In the month of February I finished up our sessions with 5th and 3rd grade. It is always great to get into the classrooms because I get to know the kids and learn alot about the dynamics of the class. We talked about respect, bullying, teasing, and what to do if it’s happening to you or in your classroom. THe students favorite part seemed to be the “Don’t Laugh at ME” book/song which sends a powereful message about treating everyone the same. I’m sure your child could sing you the song if you asked them.
I will continue to move through different classes this spring implementing prevention classes. There always seems to be a peak in conflict issues that come up this time of year. Hopefully the weather will break soon and we can get outside for lunch recess!
Happy MARCH!

January flew by and it’s already February! Before we know it it will be spring break!
Thanks to all families who attended the Pro Kids Show family night. It was a great turnout and an equally great show. Tim Hannig is a very entertaining but also emphasizes a great message about showing good character. He was also very interactive and got the kids and parents involved. I plan on going into the classrooms this month and following up on this important message. The afternoon kids assembly was different than the evening show…ask your kids what they learned and what does PRO kids stand for? (PEOPLE RESPECTING OTHERS)
This month’s Parent Connection morning meeting will be Wednesday, February 11th. The topic will be Nutrition’s Effect on Learning. If you haven’t yet been able to join us please do so. I may change the day of the week in March to see if others are available. Hope to see you there!

Welcome back from holiday break! I hope you all had a restful and fun break. I think 2009 at Holy Redeemer is going to be better than ever!
This month I will be visiting the 5th grade classes on Fridays. We will address social issues like friendship and bullying. I will also finish up with 2nd grade and make plans to visit 3rd grade again soon.
At the end of the month, January 30th, the PRO KIDS SHOW will be here putting on an assembly for the whole school at 1:30. All families are invited back for a different family show at night, 7:00 pm. I have arranged for this assembly because I have seen it at another school and highly recommend it. It is a entertaining show using magic, music, puppets, etc. but is very inspiring and encourages good character.
Just a reminder that I am at MHR on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings. My main goal is to be here for the students, parents, and faculty as support for any issues that may arise. It is my hope that all students come to school and feel safe and happy to be here. If you have any concerns that you may need advice on please feel free to contact me as well as encourage your child to do so also.
Have a great day!

The holidays are sneeking up on us fast and there many busy days to come. I have been busy at MHR getting to know students. I will be finishing up bully prevention classes in the 4th grade next week. I aslo got a chance to stop in 3rd grade during red-ribbon week and present a lesson on tobacco prevention. I’m currently also in 7th grade on Wednesdays and will continue with them until Christmas break. It’s been great to get to know the students better and learn about their strengths, needs, and the dynamics of their class. I will see 2nd grade starting in December and be sure to meet with 5th and others starting in January.
I will continue with our parent Connections group one Wednesday morning a month. We’ve had a small group the past two meetings, but we’ve had some great discussions. I look at it as quality time more than quantity of people attending. Feel free to join anytime… The December get together will be on DECEMBER 17th.
If you have any concerns and feel you child would benefit from meeting with me please feel free to contact me. You can reach me by e-mail or phone. If I’m not available please leave a voice mail message.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with your family and friends.

The month of September flew by and here we are in the middle of October!
I’ver really enjoyed getting to know students, parents and faculty at MHR. We’ve had 2 parent connections morning meetings. Thanks for all who attended. I think they went well with lots of positive dialogue.
I’ve been making my way into classrooms to teach prevention lessons with the students. I just finished bullying prevention in 6th grade and will now be working with the 4th graders. I’ll be informally visiting the 1st graders to share some of my favorite strories. I’m also currently in 8th grade finisihing up an alcholol prevention program. It’s my goal to get to all grades within the next few months.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you feel I could help with. Also, encourage and remind your children that I am here for them to help with anything they may be dealing with.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hello! My name is Kelly Sullivan and I’m excited about joining the staff at MHR as the Director of Student Services. I have a B.A. in elementary education and my M.A. in School Counseling. I have worked part-time at a neighborhood school, Christ the King, for the past 7 years. This year I will continue at C.K. and be here at MHR on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings. It is evident that Most Holy Redeemer is not only committed to the highest quality education for your child, but also to caring for his/her social, emotional, and spiritual needs. My role is to help and guide teachers, parents and students with any issues that they may face. I will be available as a resource and will offer counseling services on a need basis and when and if a crisis should arise. I also hope to get into the classrooms to teach various prevention programs. I look forward to meeting and working with the students at MHR. If you have any concerns or feel your child may benefit from meeting with me, please contact me at school, by e-mail, or leave a voicemail. I believe this will be great year at Most Holy Redeemer. Welcome Back!
